Annually in the dead of New England’s winter, I accept the invitation of my friend Mary Crawford Reining to fly down to paint with her on about about Marco Island. We started this in 2009, I believe. The resulting paintings are shown here in reverse chronological order, the latest first. If you take the time to study them, you might detect improvement in my skill over the years, but also it took me a few years to make a connection with the Florida landscape. (There are, alas no 2016 paintings because I had to take a part-time, seasonal job preparing taxes instead.)
Sun watchers No. 4–The Kite Flyer
Sunset Watchers No. 1
Watery Home-Detail
South Beach Residential
South Beach Nocturne
Bridge to Everglades
The above are all from 2015. Mary and I made it a goal to paint a good sunset from the beach. The paintings were good, the sunsets left much to be desired in terms of drama!
